The Bulleit Bourbon Derby DayClub<\/a>, produced by The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships, is almost here! It’s Arizona’s only Kentucky Derby event with live racing, betting, Mint Juleps, DJs, champagne and cocktails, shopping and air-cooled polo party-style tents. It all takes place on May 1st at Turf Paradise in Phoenix.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Kentucky Derby, or “Run For The Roses”, is just over a mile long and finishes in typically just over two minutes. The current Kentucky Derby record is held by the greatest thoroughbred of all time, Secretariat, who ran the full race at 1:59 in 1973. In the sport where winning by a nose means everything, it comes as no surprise that the slowest finisher of the Derby was Stone Street in 1908 clocking in at 2:15. That’s right; there’s only a span of 16 seconds between the fastest and slowest race ever run at the Kentucky Derby.
